Academics and Other Experience
I am currently in my last year of Sustainable and Renewable Energy Engineering program in Smart Technologies for Power Generation and Distribution, also known as Stream A. To compliment my technical degree, I am also completing a minor in Industrial Economics to gain a better understanding of how economic feasibility is studied. I hope to use this knowledge to better understand the renewable energy sector. I am very passionate about the renewable energy field and look forward to making a contribution in technology advancements.
After my co-op term last year with Hydro One, I have become more familiar with the control system infrastructure built to ensure power grid stability. This communication network is designed to provide local and remote access to monitor, control and analog power data. I believe this experience will enhance my final year of study at Carleton University in terms of the hands-on experience I gained as well as the experience of working within a technical team.
I also enjoy participating in various extracurricular activities including working with the Carleton University Robotics Club, Carleton Indian Student Association, and Striving in Keeping Humanity to name a few. All of these experiences have given me the opportunity to work in various team environments where I enjoy working together towards a common goal.
High Performance Housing Project
I am pleased to present my final design of the energy management system that has the capability to interface with various control systems on site in order to optimize energy resources. The energy resources considered are generation sources, energy storage and power loads. I was successful in my goal to create a system that will use renewable generation sources responsibly while providing reliable power to the site as my Portfolio will show. I have really enjoyed working on the design of the energy management system.
The highlight of this experience was interfacing with other teammates, especially within the power team to collaborate on designs. I had the privilege of assuming the role of a system integrator for the mechanical team. I had a great time meeting and collaborating with team leads and the project manager at weekly meetings and following-up on any issues that needed to be resolved. I am grateful for all the experiences and colleagues I met because of this project.
