Elgin

A little up ahead at Minto park I hear kids laughing, someone smiles at me when I walk by. The wind whistles by me, it is a bit chilly, I’m happy to have brought my scarf. I walk by my favourite tree in Minto park, smiling and the tiny little birds with their squeaky bird noises. “Slow down honey, you’re going to bump into someone!” I smile and chuckle a little as I see a maybe 2-year-old barrelling towards me, the mom apologizes, and I just laugh telling her it’s ok. There’s a cute couple walking in front of me, and I can’t help wishing I could hear their conversation a little more, just to be a fly on the wall. I’m noticing a lot of little backyard gardens as I walk by houses, also so many dogs! I had forgotten how many dogs there are downtown. Phew! I am out of shape; without music, I can hear myself breathing a lot harder than I should be for such a leisurely walk.
