Bio
Hi! My name is Bailee Pegden. I was born in Langley, British-Columbia on November 20th, 1996 but in 2000 I moved to Ottawa and have been here ever since. That's not to say I've been in the same house; I've been in a total of four houses and seven schools (including Carleton). It's hard being the new kid sometimes but one thing those experiences have taught me is to hang in there - things will get better.
In being the shy new kid, I've always considered myself to be introverted; but I find now that as the years go by, I become less and less so. I'm mature and responsible, mostly due to the fact that I've been taking care of my sisters since I was two years old. My first sister was diagnosed with severe autism at a young age and since then, I've been helping my parents watch over her - especially after my other sister was born.
I'm also friendly and organized and I love all forms of art (even if I can't do them). I especially love writing and all the thought that goes into something that seems so simple when it's really complex. I love acting, singing, and dancing and I can't cook to save my life.
I aspire to be a successful and accomplished writer and I'm determined to go to Europe some day. I want to travel, explore, and discover. That's part of why I chose journalism to pursue: I want to see the world not just by travel, but by looking at everything in a whole new light.
This portfolio will show you what I've accomplished this term as well as my first attempts at journalistic pieces at Carleton. You'll see my style of writing and my voice and you'll get to know my personality through my assignments. Follow along as I grow and change this year on the journey of achieving my goals.
